Hello Laurie,
Congratulations to you and your faculty for seeking NAEYC accreditation. before you apply for candidacy, definitely make sure your portfolios are completed and that you have had time to do some observations in your classrooms using the most up-to-date classroom observation tool so your faculty can get feedback prior to your visit. Once you submit our 4th annual report and are approved, you will receive an email asking you to complete some information about your program. Please be sure your portal contacts are up to date so you can receive this email to get your candidacy period started.
Please let your faculty know that the assessors know that the typical day in any early learning program is anything but picture-perfect, so they should do what they typically do every day. Many of us were in programs ourselves so we totally understand.
The assessor will give next steps once the visit is completed, but no further data will be accepted once the evaluation is completed.
Many thanks to you and your faculty for all you do for families and children.
Best of luck!

Subject: Candidacy/ Program Portfolio/ Classroom
This is our center's first time in applying for accreditation. We hope to move into candidacy in September. Any suggestions for time management 1. Our program portfolio, 2. Guidance for our educators w/their classroom portfolios and the observations? Should our portfolios be finished before we move to Candidacy?
Once the evaluator visits, is there a corrections period or is it a one and done situation?
Our educators are nervous. Any suggestions will be passed on to them.
Thank you
