    Posted 13 days ago

    Hello,

I'm looking to possibly transition out of the ECE classroom and into an advocacy role of some sort.  It would be helpful to me to hear from any of y'all out there who are in advocacy in any fashion, be it working for a union, coaching or consulting, policy, etc. as I go through this decision making process.  If you'd be willing to chat please let me know.  Thank you.

    Good morning Jamie,

I recently left the classroom after almost a decade to begin a role a full time position in advocacy work at NAEYC. It's definitely a big transition, but worth it!  I would love to share my experience with you and go through some of the steps I took. You can email me at nlazarte@naeyc.org - Hope to hear from you soon!

    Hi, Jamie,

I have been an education advocate since 1992 and specialize with special needs, military and education law for Pre-K to grade 12. Overall, review how you can support yourself as you continue to enhance and refine your skills. Review your options for state-wide or Head Start related Family Service Supports or Professional Workforce jobs. All these require specific degrees and experiences, but the opportunity to advocate for all adults and children can be very rewarding.

Good luck in your endeavors. Connect should you have any questions or are pondering options. Been there...done that =)

Ingrid thank you for the work that you do and for reaching out.  Workforce is one area I am considering as I really would like to be an ally for teachers in some way but policy is also intriguing and important.  I've still got some figuring out to do.
