  • Call to Action - Racial Justice in Early Mathematics

    Hello, Colleagues!

Societal events over the last two years have shed even more light on how racial oppression continues to exist in all areas of life. As early childhood educators, we must make explicit efforts to address long-standing racial injustices in our field. To provide a forum for acting together, for the past year, the Racial Justice in Early Mathematics Working Group has been drafting the attached Call to Action. Our goal is to achieve 1000 signatures of commitment to the Call by October of this year.

We ask you to consider the following:

    • Please review the Call, and use the form to sign, indicating your commitment.
    • Please forward this email to others who may wish to sign.
    • Plan to attend Erikson Institute’s Promising Math series in the spring of 2022, which will build on and extend the movement for racial justice in early mathematics.

Thanks for considering, and be well!

  • July Zoom Meeting

    Good afternoon, Science Interest Forum!
It's time, again, for our monthly meeting. We hope that you will join us at our July Zoom Meeting, Thursday the 22nd, at 7:30pm EDT.
This month our group will enjoy PechaKucha slide presentations that were crafted by our own esteemed Anne Lowry.  These presentations--20 curated slides shared in 20 seconds each--allow presenters to share passions and knowledge in under 7 minutes.  It's really a scientist's elevator pitch!  Anne will share her presentations on PreK Wildfire Prevention, Sea Turtle Exploration, Town Planning, and Snowfall Investigation.
We will also check on the crafting of our joint statement about Universal PreK.  Please stop by the Google Doc we shared at our meeting to check it out, and add your thoughts.
Our monthly meetings have continued to be a great source of comfort, camaraderie, and inspiration during this prolonged separation. We hope that you will join us!

We are inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting:
