Reaccreditation

Is there anyone else who is currently approaching their fifth year and prepping for reaccreditation? The documentation I received says our materials are due in September but the new portal hasn't shown how we submit our materials. I have been trying to contact NAEYC via email since March and have left phone messages but haven't heard back from anyone and am getting anxious! Would love to hear if anyone knows anything about this.

We are currently working on our reaccreditation as well. I really know nothing about how to submit information since I just gather it and our education specialist submits all information. If I hear anything, I will try to give you some help.

    Dear Christa,
Thank you for your questions regarding the re-accreditation process and we apologize for any delay in responding back to you. With the accreditation portal launch in November of 2018, programs no longer submit paper forms to NAEYC. For renewing programs, when a program is completing their 4th annual tasks on their portal they will let NAEYC know if they are intending to renew. With the approval of that submission, the program is automatically entered into their site visit process. Note that this does not impact your portfolio evidence - you can still compile your portfolios in hard copy or digital format and the assessor will review those on site during your renewal site visit. Please visit our website to learn more about accessing your program's accreditation portal and make sure you're using the 2019 model of assessment to prepare your program for the site visit.
For a more program-specific timeline or any additional questions, please contact us at 1-800-424-2460 option 3 or email us at accreditation.information@naeyc.org and our program support team will be happy to assist you!

    Hi Kristen,

Thank you so much for your response! On the accreditation portal it says
"The changes will only take effect for site visits occurring on or after September 1, 2019, for programs whose site visit window opens July 1, 2019 or later." Our site visit window says it is June 30, 2019 to December 30, 2019.

It also says our submission date was December 30, 2019, but I believe I submitted our fourth year things at the end of May.

We have been compiling our portfolio based on the tools available effective June 1, 2018. Is this incorrect?

Also if our site visit window is June 30 to December 30, doesn't that imply our materials should be ready by June 30? We were working toward the end-of-September (9/30/19) deadline I had been given previously by an NAEYC accreditation person, and expecting a site visit between October of this year and March of next year. I really appreciate any clarification you can give!

Thank you again so much for reaching out!

After your 4th year renewal. The new system seems to be that your window visit starts right when you submit your 4th year renewal materials. Under the previous system we had another four months before we needed to have our visit paperwork all ready to go, and no one told us about the change directly. I finally just was able to confirm that was what was happening this last Tuesday, after having tried since March of this year to get in touch with NAEYC Accreditation!

I've had a hard time figuring this out!  Some information on the website looked like after 4, but then some looked like after 5!  I thought I had some more time to update everything (I have been director for only 2 years and know our portfolios are quite out of date!) and get it onto the portal...guess not!  Guess I'll be doing this for the next month!! :-(
Thanks for the information and help!

    Dear Sarah,
We're sorry to hear you're having a hard time with the process but we're here to support you, especially as a newer director! The tools and resources on our website are for programs throughout their accreditation term and we encourage programs to engage consistently with our system, not just during the last year. Programs should have their portfolios and classrooms fully prepared to be assessed when they submit the 4th annual checklist on their accreditation portal, which is at the end of the 4th year. The site visit will occur during the 5th and final year of a program's accreditation term.
For a more program-specific timeline or any additional questions, please contact us at 1-800-424-2460 option 3 or email us at accreditation.information@naeyc.org and our program support team will be happy to assist you!

Do you know if they just give you the six month window and randomly show up or if you get a tighter, more specific date of when they are coming?
