Bring your questions, observations, ideas, resources to share, announcements, and your lunch to the Early Childhood Science Interest Forum's (ECSIF) 2017 annual meeting at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in the Juniper Room, on Thursday 11/16/2017 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM.

The ECSIF intends to connect early childhood educators--those who are new to science and those who are passionate about teaching it--for the purpose of creating a national dialogue around issues related to science teaching and learning.

Lots of discussion and networking with people who share an interest in learning more about science education as
    practiced by others, including you!

The on-going community happens here in Hello as people share their resources and post questions. The NAEYC ECSIF Facebook page is active and the NSTA Learning Center has an Early Childhood Forum. Stay close and keep connected to support your colleagues!

I'm a little bit new to both NAEYC and NSTA. How do I join these early childhood science interest forums and participate? I liked the ECSIF facebook page as soon as I saw this post, but what more can I do?

Hi Angela, Welcome to the NAEYC Hello platform! Please join the NAEYC ECSIF (Early Childhood Science Interest Forum) officially by following these steps:
    1. Navigate to https://members.naeyc.org/eweb
Log in using your NAEYC Username and Password
    2. Once logged in, find the 'Account Links' sections and click on 'Interests'
    3. On the Interests page, simply click or unclick the checkboxes next to the interest forum you wish to join.
Please note: It takes around 30 minutes for changes to apply in Hello.

ECSIF members share resources using the ECSIF page on Hello and in the Open Discussion Forum. We also hold meetings at conferences early childhood educators attend--ETSU and NSTA conferences for example--to discuss topics such as how to find quality science education resources, and specific questions raised by members.

What can you do? What do you like to do? Do you see a need that the ECSIF might be able to fill?
I see a need for additional resources to be posted on the ECSIF Hello page--are there articles or books you found particularly helpful?
Will you be at the upcoming NAEYC conference this November? Would you like to suggest items for the annual meeting agenda? (Hope to meet you there!)
Is there another professional organization you think the ECSIF should connect to?
I hope you and others who are "science-interested" will join the ECSIF so you'll get updates sent out from the Hello platform, and can participate in Hello discussions.
    Best wishes,
    Peggy

    Hi Angela

Welcome to both worlds!  There lots of good science teaching in both places.  The July book study is one example; Peggy's column on the NSTA website is another.

One of the best, and easiest ways, to further quality science education to talk to teachers in your own area and then spread that information to all of us through the ECSIF directly.

Look forward to hearing more from you soon!
