Hi Jamie, Great idea! Food is a wonderful way of bringing people together and giving others a glimpse into other cultures. I like to invite the multicultural families from the center to help with these experiences. As far as healthy food goes consider growing it, the garden is a perfect place for children to eat healthy and it really works. You could always keep things simple by getting some fruits like mangoes, dragon fruit, or lychee as a easy way of introducing something new. You could make guacamole with the children (avocados, lime, cilantro, tomatoes, garlic) and chips. I hope this turns into many great experiences for all of you! Bon Appetit!

Subject: Multicultural food
The children in my care are very interested in my toy kitchen. I decided to do a study on foods and cooking. These same kids are very difficult to get to eat healthy foods. It is a constant battle. I would love to introduce them to some foods traditionally eaten by other cultures just as Indian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, etc. I was wondering if any of you would be willing to send me a traditional (not Americanized) recipe that is kid friendly and the ingredients can be bought at a regular grocery store or Walmart? I really want to expand their food choices, but I don't want to misrepresent what is eaten by a different culture by relying on Pinterest.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me.
