Hello friends and colleagues,
It was great to get to meet so many of you during our book club discussions this summer. I learned so much from so many people. I'm delighted that I got to meet so many of you and am looking forward to meeting more of you.
The diversity and equity interest forum wants to continue to help all of us connect with one another for support, caring, connection and new ideas.
We're now in the process of thinking about book club events for the next year. Since many of us have very full lives, we're thinking of doing some one time book clubs where we discuss the whole book in one meeting. We're also contemplating doing some "article clubs" where we meet on google hangouts or GoToMetting to talk about an article we've all read.
What would you like to discuss with your NAEYC diversity and equity forum colleagues this year?
We've had quite a bit of interest in White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo.
I'm also wondering if we should read Anti-Bias Curriculum for Our Children and Ourselves again. It's been a while, and lots of people weren't able to participate in the first book club we had on the book.
What other diversity and equity related books can you think of that would make for great discussions?
In addition- we're looking for a few good articles to read. These might make it easier for folks with very little time to read to join us for a one time discussion.
Please reply to this thread to let us know what you're interested in.
