Social/Emotional Resources

I'm looking at getting my Preschool teachers some Social/Emotional resources.  I'm trying to decide between Zones of Regulation and the DECA Assessment.  What do all of you use for your classrooms?

    Hello Tera,
We use Conscious Discipline in our Head Start preschool program. It works very well.

I've been creating a music program called Feelings Rock and am writing songs with a social emotional focus.  You can share with your teachers on my YouTube channel. You can search for Feelings Rock.

Like Katrina, I have created something that combines music with social emotional learning. It is a collection of updated nursery rhymes that nurture kindness, empathy and gratitude, called Nursery Rhymes for Kinder Times!

Those rhymes are paired with emojis and guiding questions and activities to support SEL and language development. The rhymes are available as an album by Raffi and Lindsay Munroe that is available on all major streaming platforms, with lyrics and resources available for free on my website.

Teachers have found this collection to be a fun and valuable resource in their classrooms and have even shared the links with families to increase family engagement in their children's growth and development. Check it all out and let me know how you like it!

Since folks are sharing their music for SEL I will jump in and offer my CD Rainbow of Color...songs all about SEL directed towards assisting  kids (and adults) to strengthen the skills we all need to develop to be compassionate citizens in any community, be it a classroom community or a broader community.

You can hear it on my YouTube - look for playlists and the album name "Rainbow of Color".

SEL and inclusion are very central to everything that I write and sing with kids, so other albums also have those themes, but with slightly different foci on other CDs.

I am absolutely loving all the social/emotional content that everyone is sharing! YOGARATE is a wonderful resource for learning new breathing techniques,  yoga movements and ECE appropriate martial arts for self discipline and mindfulness.

I have used the Zones of Regulation and thought it was great.  I used it in a kindergarten classroom.  It really helped some children understand their emotions and learn how to react to them.  I love any system that moves toward empowering the children, and one that accepts that emotions aren't wrong.
