  • 1.  Play based learning- A collaboration with colleagues in Ghana

    Dear Colleagues,
In 2019 I posted a message here looking for images and descriptions of play based learning activities to share with early childhood educators in Ghana.  Several of you shared images and descriptions of wonderful play activities.
Unfortunately Covid delayed my trip for 3 years.  The plan to communicate via a shared google doc faded away in the stress of the pandemic.
This year, I was finally able to travel to Ghana to work with 6 amazing Kindergarten teachers.  I learned so much from them about teaching English as a second language and leading teacher directed activities in  an active, engaging manner.
The pictures you shared inspired them to try new play based learning activities and they're excited to continue the collaboration.  If you'd like to see the google slide show, regardless of whether you contributed pictures to the original project email me at margaretfrace@gmail.com and I'll add  you to the google slides presentation.  If the pictures of Ghanaian teachers inspire you to try new things- we'd love it if you could send pictures.  I'll be returning in summer 2023 and will share them with these 6 teachers, as well as teachers returning to the University of Cape Coast Ghana for continuing education in Early Childhood.  We could create a continuing loop of cross cultural inspiration and collaboration.
    warmly,
