Awesome Ideas..
I often go to nearby stores (close to the centers) and notice food drives, but because we are serving low to moderate-income families I was hesitant to ask families for food donations. But you got me thinking, we might have families that are still willing to donate to families who are less fortunate than them, and the giving tree is awesome as well.
Love the ideas.....

We partner with the Hillsborough Community Assistance Network. Our kindergarten class asks families to donate boxes of cereal for their 100th day of school project with the goal of collecting 100 boxes of cereal. The cereal is donated to the food bank and distributed to local families. At the holidays we sponsor local families in need with a giving tree, collecting items the family has put on a wish list including gifts, diapers, wipes, etc.

The assessment items read:
Show or describe one example of how you involve close neighbors in your program as appropriate or cooperate with them on neighborhood interests and needs.
I would like to hear about other evidence for this assessment item.
One example for us is.....We have a partnership with an agency called "TruCare Non-Profit Community Clinic" They come to our site and give free dental check-ups for the kids and information/resources to staff and families.
Thank you
Mary
