How many have presented your accreditation portfolio via the PowerPoint option, and how many have submitted in hard copy? Or do you know which one is preferred? I have all evidence ready to upload, but is hard copy just as good, or is one medium preferred over the other? I am on the fence about presenting my pieces of evidence and which one might be the easiest to navigate for the assessor. Thank you. Katie Avenson

    Hi Katie,
It is entirely up to you and your staff what kind of portfolios to create.  The format makes no difference to assessors. I have seen programs that had some classrooms create digital portfolios and some classrooms with hard copy; it really is up to those who are creating it. The only requirement is that any one portfolio must be one format.
With all of that said, NAEYC does recommend with digital portfolios that you either have a hard copy available or ensure that the digital version is accessible without internet or power source. That way if your internet is down or you don't have power the day of the visit, the assessor can still access the portfolios.

I did a Power Point.  Make sure that if you choose this option you save it in multiple forms.  I had it on two thumb drives as well as on the laptop that the person doing the visit used.  I found it a lot easier, because itʻs simple to review and make changes.

Congratulations on all your hard work & thoughtfulness towards accreditation!

I am responding as a former Assessor.   I suggest whatever works best for the program.   True, a program is to have back up for electronic portfolios.   I have been in some situations where backup was needed.  Whether electronic, folders, or binders, follow the wording.   Too much or too little responding to items will possibly affect ratings.    Be sure portfolios are correlated to the items.   Too much unrelated info is unnecessary & can lead to fatigue.  Well organized & highlighted evidence works well.

    Good luck!

This has been the absolute best response to read. Thank you, Jill. I believe I gave WAY too much information in my last portfolio and this time around, I am making it as simple as possible but making sure I have what is asked for. I appreciate your invested time in this answer.

    Hello,

Presentation does not matter; paper or electronic are equally acceptable. Programs are not judged by appearance of the portfolio or on anything but content in regards to meeting the needed information.

Our program is due for a visit. We recently moved to an electronic portfolio. We found that PowerPoint was quite glitchy, but that Google Slides is the easiest way to go. The assessor confirmed that GS will be accepted, so it does not need to be in PP. Both programs transition easily in Drive.

In terms of evidence, screenshots and jpeg scans are easy to insert. If the item needs to be zoomed into to see, that is also acceptable for the assessor
