    Hi All,

The Early Math Interest Forum (EMIF) facilitators are starting a Math Picture Book of the Month post for the Hello community. Check out the first one below!

I wanted to share a story that could be an ideal read for Thanksgiving or Christmas time or any other time that families get together for a meal - like my large Italian family who got together weekly on Sundays! I've also shared some math concepts and suggested follow up activities that could be used in your setting or at home. Happy Reading!

    Hi Toni,

    Excellent choice... thank you.

I continue to search for what I call a curriculum for pre-K-1 that is clearly spelled out for new teachers. Can you help?

Toni, thanks so much for the tip on a great new title for my collection. I have added it to my Wish List.

I'm also wondering if folks have other favorite "growing pattern" books that your excellent teaching ideas would work with. I'm thinking about the "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a XXXXX" series. Other suggestions out there?

Shirley Neitzel has a whole series of books of this sort.  The Jacket I'll Wear in the Snow, I'm Not Feeling Well Today, The House I Built for the Wrens, and several more.

    Carrie,
Some other book ideas are Pitter Pattern by Joyce Hesselberth and I Went Walkingby Sue Williams. This article from Erikson's Early Math Collaborative has book suggestions for teaching growing patterns and this article from NAEYC (written by EMIF Facilitators Jessica Young and Kristen Reed) has books that illustrate repeating and growing patterns.
