    Hello,

We are working on our program's portfolio and looking for examples of a program wide development plan.  Does anyone have one they could share?  We have always had a simple training plan for the year, but the changes to the portfolio are asking for a much more detailed plan and we are struggling a bit to create something that aligns with all the standards refencing the PPDP.   I appreciate any help you can offer!

    Hi Nicole:

You may want to think about creating three documents:
    • a PD policy (brief, tells your high level thinking about PD for the program)
    • a procedure (how you will put your policy in action:  dates you will be closed for PD, topics you will want to address on a planned basis, how you will determine common needs from your staff resources to support you, etc.)
    • an implementation plan (what you will do for a particular time period - usually a program year)  While your other two documents listed above may stay pretty much the same from year to year, your implementation plan WILL definitely change from year to year).
With so many opportunities for online learning, PD can look a whole lot different than it did in the past.  If you include online PD in your plan, you may want to articulate how you make it meaningful and effective.
