    Hello!
Do any of you offer maternity leave as a benefit for teachers? If so, what is your policy?
Have you paid them while they were out? For how long?

We have never paid salary for teachers out on maternity leave, but I think we have offered a continued tuition discount for their older children.
Unfortunately, I can't remember and don't think we wrote down the policy. I'm having a hard time remembering old policies that are before the pandemic!

Thank you for sharing any of your policies with me.
Is anyone else having a hard time remember pre-Covid policies??!

We do not offer maternity per say, but all of our staff get 12 paid sick days and two weeks paid vacation (more for length of service) that they can use before applying for Paid Family and Medical Leave from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I believe FMLA protects 12 weeks, but I am unsure how many paid weeks they offer. I want to say six though.

Massachusetts may be different, but I am in Maryland and I do not think FMLA offers any paid time, only employment protection for the 12 weeks you mentioned.

Massachusetts started offering Paid FMLA a year or two ago. We all began paying into it through out paycheck deductions a year before the program started.

I looked it up, Massachusetts requires 12 weeks paid leave and 20 weeks protected leave. I believe you have to have worked for 12 months prior and the company needs to have a minimum number of employees to be required to offer it.
