There is not an NAEYC affiliate in Wyoming. I know that there used to be one. Why do we not have one now? How can we get a new affiliate program started?

Hi, Abby - thanks for your questions! NAEYC restructured its Affiliate network in September 2017 in order to provide more consistent, high-quality benefits to members at the local level. Unfortunately, our former Wyoming Affiliate opted not to apply under the new structure. We are committed to serving members in your state, though, and would love to work with you and other NAEYC members interested in building a new Affiliate. Here is the section of our website that outlines the process for organizations to apply for affiliation with NAEYC. We look forward to talking with you more!

Thank you for Sending the link on the process of bringing NAEYC back to Wyoming. I really think this is something our state needs!

    Hi Abby,

I was a long time member of the Wyoming Early Childhood Association and a past president of the board.  I was on the board when we made the decision not to re-affiliate with NAEYC.  It was a tough decision but we did not have the manpower or the capacity to continue as an organization.  NAEYC raised the capacity benchmarks to be an affiliate for good reasons... namely you are only as good as your weakest link... and we could not reach them.  As a board we felt we were not serving the members in a way we wanted or could maintain.  It was always our hope that one day soon we could reform so once again Wyoming could have an NAEYC affiliate.

I would be happy to talk to you more about this.

I have been worried for years about the lack of <g class="gr_ gr_316 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" id="316" data-gr-id="316">trainings</g>. I have worried about the lack of providers interest to be a part of organizations that are meant to help providers support one another for the benefit of the children in our care. I'd like to see this change!

    Abby,

There are so many reasons for providers to be part of professional organizations including a united public policy voice, opportunities to network and of course professional development.  I am currently working with a group of Wyoming early childhood leaders and will be spending the weekend with them this week.  I will raise your concerns.  Hopefully we can move closer to having an NAEYC affiliate soon.  In the meantime make sure to affiliate with one of our neighboring states so you can have access to the programs they offer.  For now I am a Idaho AEYC member.
