    Dear Everyone,

I am bribing a matter here for your kind suggestions. I am responsible for 16  three years old kids. I have two kids who have spontaneous aggressive behavior. They already assessed for development delay and sensory integration disorder. The presence of these kids are affecting adversely on other kids in the room. The other kids are socially, physically and emotionally not feeling safe in presence of these kids. These two kids can hit, pull and push them any time. their acts are too strong some times they kicked in their faces. we are two teachers in one room. We ae trying our best to shadow them but veery day five to six incidents are happened. our director and other staff is also aware about this problem.we communicated with parents and writing a day to day communication book. we also got help sometime from inclusive care.

But last week, one of the two kid smacked a small girl head in the wall that makes me so much concerned. As I can understand the children with development delays issue have right to attend daycare with normal kids but now it is going to be a safety issue for other children under my care.

Every related authority is aware about the situation but due to circumstances it is hard to take a quick action. What should I need to do? please guide me .

    Hello:

First and foremost, protect the other children.  I know this is easy to say but not so easy to always be compliant.  Document EVERYTHING and keep a copy for your records. This is to keep YOU safe.
Look for triggers, same time of day? same person? over same object? Lack of sleep?  lack of food?  Different household night before? Distract.  What do they like to do?  You can begin with first this, then that in short increments.
Positive praise. " I like the way you...:
It's exhausting but they will improve.  If they are really out of control, ask to have child removed for a break for both of you.
    Peace

I have trained in classrooms with similar situations. It is not easy for the teachers or the children to be in a classroom filled with such trauma. Having a positive environment can make a huge difference. I know that it is hard to always stay positive when you have such actively aggressive students.

    Here are some suggestions:

    Put Proactive Supports in Place

    Classroom Arrangement

    Classroom Centers (Scaffolding)

    Transitions

    Lesson Planning

    Consistent Routines (picture Schedule)

    Behavior Curriculum

Rules that Build Community (I-Care Rules)

    Responsive Teacher

    Put Moderate Support in Place

    Visual cues for behavior

Teach, re-teach and practice social skills

    Social Stories

    Put Intensive Supports in Place

    Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)

    Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)

     Individualized teaching programs

I hope this helps you and your students to feel more at ease with the situation and have a plan of action for the future.

This is a serious matter that can turn into a legal issue. It true that legally you cannot discriminate against any child because of his or her disabilities. it is important to give these children a chance but first find out if these children have an IEP and see what it recommends for working with these children with behavior issues or a disability. It is important to read the IEP and talk with their occupational therapist if one is assigned to them. If not, you should have a meeting with your supervisor and the parent.
