    Hello all
My mentor, who has over 50 years worth of experience, knowledge and passion is writing a book.  Her hope is to leave a lasting legacy.  Now that her words and ideas are on paper- i'd Like to offer help in getting it published.  Can anyone offer guidance on next steps- how to get it edited, published, accessible to others?? Thanks so much.

    Hi Laurie,

I wrote a book that is self-published (it's in my signature).  I found a wonderful company that created a cover for me, formatted the book, created an index, and sent me a prototype.  Then I uploaded to Amazon and Ingram.  If you (or anyone else reading this discussion) email me directly, I can give you more information about this.  If your friend doesn't want to self-publish, though, she needs to find a literary agent to send the manuscript to a publisher.  I also have information about that.  There are lots of books about self-publishing, so she might want to get one to see what that entails.  I certainly understand about wanting to leave a legacy.  As I mentioned, just email me and I would be glad to help.

    Hi Laurie,
My recommendation is to identify similar types of books and see who publishes them. This can be done online at Amazon or at bookstore. Some publishing houses accept submissions without an agent, some don't. Publishers who accept directly from authors should have their criteria and directions on how to submit on their websites. Most educational presses (in my experience) don't publish memoir-type books.

    Hope that helps.
