Thank you to NAEYC's Tech and Young Children Interest Forum for the invitation to share my thinking and research about e-books and digital stories at your quarterly meeting. If you missed the meet up/discussion, you can download the presentation slides at https://www.academia.edu/35969608/E-BOOKS_AND_DIGITAL_STORIES_Webinar_for_NAEYCs_Tech_and_YC_IF.
I believe Lynn Hartle will be posting the video recording, for posterity, here shortly. If you have questions or want to continue the conversation please feel free to email me, kpaciga@gmail.com, or tweet me @kpaciga.
In my talk I'd indicated that there are some concise tips for sharing e-books during story time. I've copied them here: After reading, Roskos (2013) suggests teachers: (1) reinforce theme or informational content; (2) walk through text structure, using digital features to teach literacy concepts and skills; and (3) invite children to browse/read stories on a mobile device with a friend or alone (summarized from Roskos, K. (2013). The eBook goes to school: Shared book reading 3.0. In S.B. Neuman & L. Gambrel (Eds.), Quality reading instruction in the age of Common Core Standards (190-203). Newark, DE: International Reading Association.).

Is anyone using eBooks or digital stories in their early childhood classrooms? Are there any you would recommend and how are you using these to enhance instruction in your learning environment?
