  • 1.  How can a product vendor be of support at this time

Hello Everyone! I make nature/Montessori inspired wooden materials for classroom. I am trying to figure out how to best support my customers - educators. With meticulous sanitation requirements and some schools going hybrid model, what are your expectations from material vendors? Will it be helpful to have printable copies of each work? or will having plastic versions that are super easy to sanitize but not as durable/beautiful as wood, be of more value? I usually meet teachers at conferences and chat but this year, everything is different. Trying to see how I can support the new way of doing things <3

    Hello Suba,

in response to your query on wooden material within the Montessori environment.

I have been researching Preschool reopening practices and one of the nurseries answered a question on this point.

How do they sanitize the wooden resources?
It's a Montessori nursery based in London, U.K. and the owner confirmed that they were using water and soap to sanitize the resources regularly. ( of course that's what we have been advised works best with keeping our hands clean). When asked about the possible damage to the resources, the owner stated that it hadn't been bad so far, but if there was any damage it was better to replace some items at a later date, rather than expose the children to potential transmission. The nursery is now open every day of the week and all the children have returned safely. It's interesting to note that, almost naturally, the Montessori environment operates quite an individualized mode of learning and as such, they have found it relatively straight forward to work in bubbles without mixing and to ensure that there is no cross contamination with the resources. In. Addition they sanitize and disinfect the nursery at the end of each day. Requisite risk assessments are also in place and reviewed daily.
