1. We also send home a letter to parents to inform them that their child has been exposed.
2. We send another letter that explains what to do if your child should happen to get lice. I highly recommend a nit comb rather than chemical shampoo's . Studies have shown that lice are building immunity to the chemicals. If they choose to use a nit come they have to use It for two weeks. To get rid of them. They cost about $20 online, but they're worth every penny. If I have struggling families sometimes. I buy one for them.
3. We Wash all the dress-up clothes, bag up all the hats. We wash everything that we can wash, anything else we bag up for about a month. Then we get the carpets and the couches cleaned.
4. If we have three cases,we must contact social services in California, and inform them.

Subject: lice
Happy Friday! A family at my center has reported that their two children have lice. We haven't had lice in our center in at least 8 years so I am writing to check on best practices. We understand the exclusion policy for the affected children. Can anyone share a protocol for maintaining the classroom spaces?
Thanks!
