Most Ys that I have been around (worked in two) do not allow their staff to wear jeans. Teachers tend to wear khaki/navy/black pants (think chinos), their Y shirts and nametag. I would dress similarly. Black pants and a button down or knit polo. I would pay attention to the jewelry (simple and not something that children would potentially grab) and footwear (closed toed shoes, preferably white or solid color athletic shoes). In a working interview, they will be observing your interactions and your skills in the classroom. You don't want your wardrobe getting in the way.
Good luck. The Y is a great place to work.

Hi. I have a working interview atca YMCA preschool. I'm wondering what is appropriate to wear for this part of the process? Trying to be professional but as it has been a while since!
