HI Elizabeth
We use a P&L sheet to figure out our costs per month first. Once we had a good base line of our spending we were able to understand our averages per month. For certain fixed expenses that wouldn't change regardless of the number of children we have in a centre, we divided it by the licensed number: so rent, insurance, internet, phone, software, professional dues etc. Then the variable expenses were devided by the number of children we had in the centre at that time, food, utilities, supplies, teacher salaries, etc. Then add the two together and you get your monthly cost per child.
I hope that helps.

Subject: Cost Per Child
Hello! We are trying to find a way to figure out cost per child in our children's center. Does anyone have any tools they have used to determine this cost? Thank you for your help!
