We are a public school district serving 1200 students who are at risk or who have special needs.  We are looking for a presenter to address how to ensure equity in preschool classrooms.  This is for next school year and for 120 staff split into two groups.  Let me know if you are one or know of one.  Thanks!

    Kathy.
I am going to make sure that Andrew Goff, our new co facilitator for the At-Risk and Special Needs Interest Forum sees your post. He is in the Aurora area, I believe. That is such a worthy topic.

I have had the benefit of attending professional development sessions led by Ijumaa Jordan and Megan Madison and agree with Meg that they do amazing work on anti bias and equity topics (and other ECE topics).  These presenters' skill and knowledge were such that the difficult conversations were productive.
    Here's Ijumaa's website

Dr. Eva Marie Shiver is amazing!  Very knowledgeable and dynamic, with an approach that both pushes us to do better while holding that we are all on a journey of growth. I've seen her at Zero to Three and again at a conference in Connecticut.

    Dear Kathy,

We wanted to let you know about a new NAEYC resource that can be used as the base for equity focused trainings. Each and Every Child: Teaching Preschool with an Equity Lens will be available in February. It's a NAEYC standard member benefit book and there will soon be available a facilitator's guide and study guide to assist in using it within trainings and book studies on equity. The book provides a range of concrete strategies and tips educators can use to implement the recommendations from NAEYC's position statement, Advancing Equity in Early Childhood Education. The facilitator's guide and study guides offer leaders and teachers chapter by chapter guidance on using the book in a group training session, study group or for individual professional development.

    Here's the table of contents.

    Lark:

This book looks great and I can't wait to receive it.  I love that it includes a chapter "What if I Say the Wrong Thing?"  Knowing that it's okay to make mistakes can help people feel brave enough to respond to and start conversations.
