  • 1.  Video for Masks

    Posted 08-18-2020 04:17 PM
    Hello,
Does anyone have an appropriate video to show to 3, 4 and 5 year olds about wearing a mask to school? We are a Catholic school and we are looking for a video that is not too scary.
    Thanks,

Hello from Florida! What about the idea of making your own video, showing family members or community helpers (police, bus drivers, crossing guards, etc) putting on their own masks and helping children get their masks on just right-before walking into buildings or entering a play area? Perhaps parents/guardians could contribute their own video clips of their family members putting on their masks, then send them to you so you could compile them into a film for your center. Best regards!

Conscious Discipline has a printable story that is very basic.  Here is the link https://consciousdiscipline.com/resources/masks-and-gloves-printable-story/
I hope you find it helpful.

This is the link to one that a local early childhood school district program principal did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQfazWaqLfk

Maybe someone at your school could do something similar?

This isn't a video, but it is a story about masks that might be helpful. I just saw it, included in this Reopening Guide from the National Center for Pyramid Innovations: https://challengingbehavior.cbcs.usf.edu/docs/Leadership_ReOpening_Guide.pdf

Hello!   I think one of the best resources out there is Autism Little Learners which is in no way just for children with autism!
I've shared these on our FB page several times.  This link is to just some of her Free resources which include stories, coloring books etc, very short and kid friendly.  If you google you can even find people reading some of her stories.   I just read  one of the stories and sent it out to the school.  That way the children see someone they know.  Plus I showed different types of masks etc.
    Good luck!     Masks stories website

Hi Sarah...there are several videos on youtube.com.  Look for kids in masks.   I have attached a downloadable book you can share as well.

    Hi Sarah,

PBS and PBSkids have two videos that might be helpful. I will include them in this message. Good luck with the beginning of your school year!
