  • 1.  Best virtual site for learning and parent communication

I am a Spanish immersion preschool teacher. I will be working along with two teachers.  Each of us in separate areas . Five kids per teacher.  Anticipating the future in case one child or teacher gets sick, the whole group will stay in quarantine. I tried to see what is the best site for virtual learning and can't seem to decide.  I have one teacher that is old fashioned and wants to stick with email and pre-recording.  I have been playing with Seesaw, but it doesn't have much Spanish in it.  Do you have to pay for Seesaw Plus in order to add my own files? Would google docs work better? I am not that technologically savvy, but will learn.   I also purchased Scholastics magazine in Spanish and would like to send all ideas and packages using only one tech support.  Any ideas please share . Thank you.

    Hello Vera,

Way to be proactive! Perhaps try to give ClassDojo a try? The phone app works best, but some use their computers as well. The best thing about it, is that anything you post in the "class stories" is translated! You can also see which parent views the translated post - or any post for that matter. Also, there is a messaging feature, as well as individual child portfolios that can only be viewed by the parents and teaching team. It's pretty user friendly, and would be a good compromise for your teaching partners... because they can still post their prerecorded videos in the class stories section. Once I compared it to Facebook, most teachers were willing to give it a try and caught on pretty quickly. Also give your families some time to catch on as well. It may be a slow start, but if your content is meaningful and engaging, you’ll have full participation in no time.

    Good luck!

    Marie

    Marie,
Thank you so much for the advice.  I am having fun with the program.  I will start sending notes to my colleagues and see if they feel comfortable.
