  • 1.  NEW AND IMPORTANT

I recently mentioned Peter Lovenheim's book, The Attachment Effect (Penguin Random House, 2018) on this Hello site. I want to emphasize how important this new information about attachment is. Peter is a writer who interviewed a major scientist. He has made the book is a pleasant read. Other child development scientists have praised Peter's explanations.

This book is so important because it clarifies how many negative events happen in the lives of newborns and the first months of infants. We must learn about this both to prevent these life-long negatives, like feelings of not being worthwhile, and to correct these effects with our early education skills before the opportunity passes and adult lives are severely limited.

The information is hard to look at as almost half of us have experienced and are experiencing these adult limitations: anxiety attachment and withdrawal attachment. Learning how to help the children we serve will also help us deal with the results of how our primary early caregiver related to us. I hope many of you will talk about your experience when you read this inexpensive book.
