Hello to All Early Care and Education Advocates!
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, May 3-7. In speaking with a program director yesterday, I realized how much this means for the teachers but also how much this is stressing out all you folks who are feeling stretched thin. I wondered if we could start a thread to share ideas especially for those who want to show appreciation but might not have a ton of time or money to invest right now.
So let's go, Early Education Professionals! What ideas can we give to these folks to show they care about all those who care for children?

Thanks for all you do for families, children and your own teaching and support crew all year long!

We have one parent who has organized room parents.  During Teacher Appreciation Week, each group of room parents takes a day and get the rest of the parents to donate special treats for each day.  They also do this once a month too.  I then do not have to worry about this at all.  We have had breakfast treats one day, flower days, etc.  The parents group pick the themes for the day and purchase all they need for it.  They even come in and set it up for us.

We used signup.com and have a list for the parent's to choose from to bring in for our teachers.  We are so appreciative of how generous our parents have been.  We have done this the last several years and just change up the list a little each time.
    Monday - candy bars

    Tuesday - doughnuts
    Wednesday - ice cream bar
    Thursday - cookies
Friday - deli meat, cheese, fruit, chips

We also ask for donations of a $10 gift card to a fast food restaurant.  We usually are fortunate enough to collect enough for our staff of 26.

"Nacho" average teacher and put  a little chip and salsa bag together
Thanks a "latte" with a coffee or gift card for one
You are the "balm" with a lip balm
"Donut" know what we would do without you
A great teacher is the treasure at the end of the rainbow with a bag of skittles
You are "simply" the best staff with simply lemonade
We would be "muffin" without you
No matter how the cookie crumbles you are the best staff around

Pinterest is a great resource for fun puns with cute little gifts!!

A non-expensive gift for teacher appreciation week could be the gift of time.  Give teachers an extra 15 minutes added to their lunch break or simply step in the classroom and release them for 15minutes.  You would be amazed at how much they would appreciate that breath time.
