I work at a small community preschool where each room has a CD player, and it has traditionally been each lead teacher's CD collection that has been used in that particular room.  I have purchased digital children's music over the past few years, and play it through my phone or an ipod as well.  Our Director would like to think of some way to have the staff's CDs digitized and available for all, and mentioned possibly buying ipad minis or little ipods and iplayers to update the school's music options -- but we can't wrap our mind around the best way to do this, how the "master library" would best be accessed, etc.  Do any of you have systems for music sharing that work well in your programs that you might recommend? Appreciate the ideas!  With thanks, Robin

I would be interested in how other schools are handling music as well.  We have  struggled with ipods recognizing only the first computer that was used to transfer music.  This creates problems when another teacher wants to update it or the teacher moves to another class.  Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful!

I haven't rolled it out yet but I have been working of something sort of like this.

I am creating arts curriculum for my center and am using Google docs to create easily accessible documents with links to music on youtube.  I have used Google drive in the past for sharing my music between my various devices with reasonable success. Conceptually it should work and doesn't get all hung up on permissions the way itunes does.

As long as everyone has internet access and an aux cord for their boom boxes, that should work alright.

Seems like if your center had an iTunes account and an iMusic account you could have a certain number of devices share the same music. I have uploaded all my kid CDs to my personal iTunes account and have added a lot of kids music and other kid appropriate music to my iMusic account and I use my old phone as an iPod with a Bluetooth speaker in my room. I can access the same music on my current phone in my iPad on my computer, so it seems like you might be able to do the same depending on the limits on number of devices.
