Who are your favorite preschool teacher bloggers who follow DAP?

  • 1.  Who are your favorite preschool teacher bloggers who follow DAP?

Blogs that I find through pinterest or through internet searches, are, for the majority, written by people who don't use developmentally appropriate practices. I'm a visual learner so I love to be able to see an activity rather than just read about it. I'd really love to be able to follow people who create a curriculum/environment based on the development of the children they teach. I'm looking for bloggers who work with ages 3-5.

I'm happy that you shared this with me, Lori, because I feel like I haven't spent enough time looking at math specific resources. They have Pre-K tag too, so that will be extra helpful to me.

Hi Monica - I can totally relate as a visual learner myself! Through my work I produce hands-on science videos for young children. They are short 5-10 minute explorations and outline all the materials needed, set-up, how to do the activity, encourage science skill building and explain the science connections. You can access them here: hands-on science videos Hope they're helpful to you!

Thanks for the suggestion, Mira. The subject of his most recent blog post has actually been on my mind so the blog spoke to me pretty much immediately. The post is about first creating a connection with students to create a strong foundation in the teacher/student relationship. This is something that I believe in as well but I feel that my co-workers don't agree. The post gave me validation.

Jennifer, thanks for sharing. I'm reading through the recent posts. I really appreciate how she gives a suggestion and follows it with an example that illustrates the suggestion. Some people just give the suggestion and leave out the practical application which I don't find as helpful.

DREME is a great resource for learning and applying early math. Developed by Stanford University, it also has ideas you can share with your families to encourage them to do math at home in simple and fun ways.

    Good morning everyone!

My teachers are aware that I follow a number of blogs and websites.

We don't need to reinvent the wheel each time we plan curriculum or encounter a challenge. We can collaborate with and learn from educators who do the same job as we do everyday.

In case you are wondering who I read/follow, here are links to just a few favorites!

I LOVE the Explorations Early Learning website with Jeff Johnson and Lisa Murphy. They are my favorite play advocates I love all of their work and they also introduce me to a ton of other play advocates and early childhood people who are all about being truly DAP! Ps Lisa Murphy does her own stuff her blog and social media is The Ooey Gooey Inc or the Ooey Gooey Lady

    Hi @Monica Vazquez,

These are such great ideas and resources! I echo Teacher Tom, Fairydust Teaching, Explorations Early Learning, Playful Transformation, and also the great NAEYC blog posts, Focus on DAP: Joyful Learning in a Tough Year and other Engaged Learning and DAP resources.

Thanks for asking the question to get all these great recommendations!

Renee Dinnerstein's Investigating Choice Time is wonderful. Mostly focused on early elementary, but there's lots relevant to preschool, too. During the pandemic she's been holding panel conversations with brilliant educators, including one on teaching outdoors, which was the topic of a recent thread (and my current interest!).
