  • 1.  Sharing our Most Effective Anti-Bias Picture Books!

    Posted 03-24-2021 03:20 PM

Join members of the Diversity and Equity Forum as we work together to find some of the best books to share anti-bias concepts with our children and each other.

(Bring your best examples to share!)

    • Week 1:  Tuesday, April 28,  6 pm -7:30 pm Central time (4 pm Pacific, 7 pm Eastern).  Books that celebrate children's social identities, supporting them to value themselves (without feeling superior) and respect and value others. These could be related to race, gender, language, culture, family structure, economic class, ability, religion or any other topic related to societal biases.

    • Week 2: Tuesday, May 11, 6 pm - 7:30 Central time  Books that support children to notice and reject societal biases including racism and other forms of oppression.

    • Week 3: Tuesday, May 25, 6 pm -7:30 Central time.  Books that nurture children's skills in standing up for themselves and standing with others when bias and stereotypes happen.

Books that celebrate children's social identities, books that support children to notice and reject societal biases, books that nurture children's skills in standing up for themselves and standing with others--the 3 meetings format is already helping me think about the books I'm familiar with in a new way.
Looking forward to the sharing and discussion!
    Peggy

Thanks Margaret for the  opportunity for us to share ideas on books on anti Bias concepts.  I was having difficulties with the link, but  just copied the one Erin posted and it worked.

Thank you to all who provided the working link to the form! Unfortunately, despite filling out the form, I have not received links to attend, not even for the one that took place on April 28th. I'm curious if anyone received the link after registering via the Google Form and how the first session went?
Please help me get the links, because I would love to be a part of this series! Thank you!

    Hello,

I do not believe that the event links have been sent out yet.  The first session should show a Tuesday date of April 27, 2021. The link will be sent out to the participants once the interest forum team meets again this week. You have not missed the meeting.
