  • 1.  NAEYC Administrator Qualifications

    We are undergoing our re-accreditation process and I don't see anything this time around specifically related to Administrator Qualifications as there used to be, such as having credits in management, etc.  Have they removed all of that and moved more towards the pedagogical administrator definition?  Or am I looking in the wrong place?  Thanks!

    Hi Diana:

    You'll want to look at Standard 6: Staff Competencies, Preparation and Support.  There, you will find two Assessment Items that pertain to your question:
    • 6C.3 is relevant for the operational administrator
    • 6C.4 is relevant for the pedagogical administrator
    If eligible, one person can fit both roles..... or these roles can be split between two people as long as they have the stated qualifications.

    Ahhh yes, there it is!  I know I used to have to document it in Standard 10...should have thought to check out staff qualifications!  Thank you!!

    Great reminder, Susan, that the assorted tools were designed to be used TOGETHER!!!  The NAEYC Early Learning Program Accreditation Standards and Assessment Items document contains wonderful narrative descriptions of what quality practices look like.  Going back and forth between that tool and the Observation Tools and Portfolios Tools poises a program to fully understand what our national organization uses to define program quality.
