    Hello from South Dakota,

       I am curious if any of you have used Onboarding for new staff?  If so what resources have you used?  What do you like and what do you wish could be changed?

    Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello Teri,

    What a great question. In Washington, DC, our current regulations include the following:

    Verification that the employee completed an orientation reviewing the Facility's policies and procedures and the employee's duties and responsibilities;

    As a former Center Director, I included the following during the first 90 days when a new employee went through an Onboarding Program:

    - Review of the Employee and Family Handbook

    - Opportunities to observe in classrooms, other than the one where the employee was assigned

    - Professional Development Sessions on topics like the NAEYC Code of Ethics, Developmentally Appropriate Practices
