Any ideas for preschool/child care Read Across America activities that are NOT based on Dr. Suess?  We are planning to align with the updated slogan "Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers." Unfortunately, we can't have guest readers or book swaps at this time.  What have you done or do you plan to do? Thanks for positive suggestions!

    Good morning.
We have successfully organized surprise readers via zoom.  The parents sign up for a time slot during the month and they drop in via zoom.
This does take work from the teacher/director to ensure that our parent parent partners use an equity lense when choosing the book/story that they share.  Here is a resource.

    Hi,
Maybe have your readers read virtually by creating a video and uploading it on Youtube. Our learning coalition has been doing these with different readers. Or look up on Youtube for the books. There are lots of readers that might of already done a video using the books you would like to use.

You could read Emily's Idea by Christine Evans. The children then can create their own paper dolls and decorate the classroom - or better yet - a neighboring classroom.

(When a little girl decides to create a paper chain of dolls, her idea catches on. Then it spreads far and wide as children around the world begin to create and share their own.)
