Looking for help! My principal asked me to look for some information about what a "Genius Hour" would look like for younger grades, 4K through 3rd grade. I have some ideas about what I would want to do for preschool, but I'd love input from others. Here is a little background. We are a smaller parochial school in rural Wisconsin. We don't have a ton of "extra" money, but can often get church members or school families to buy some things for us. My principal would like to implement this school-wide, she is a former 4th/5th-grade teacher. We have some teachers who are very "old school" and this will be difficult for them as far as its open-endedness.

I'd love links to articles that give the how and why if you have any! Thank you in advance for your input!

Something I recall being very impressed with when I toured a school for my grandsons was a "STEM (now STEAM) Room".  A myriad of everyday objects (most recyclable such as paper towel rolls, buttons, etc.) were sorted and children were able to design and create with them.  You can do some research on STEAM and perhaps implement it for your hour and the cost would be minimal.  There will plenty of information to justify it.....Good Luck!
