All attended the Launch of the Equity and Social Justice Leadership Academy for Interest Forum Facilitators and emerging leaders funded by the Foundation for Child Development and the Dodge Family Fund. Roshunda, Monisha and Doris are also participants in the Caucus' Mentoring Initiative. Keena is the 2019 Annual Conference Jerlean Daniel Scholarship recipient. It was a high energy, engaging day led by Enid Lee, an anti-racist consultant, who "walked the talk" by modeling what she was teaching. She noted that inequities issues have been around for an inordinate amount of time. We're on a journey to get it right. Maurice says that similar to the prayer warriors in many churches, the Caucus, the other 15 interest Forums in attendance as well as others have signed up to be social justice warriors. Enid says that in spite of what at times can seem discouraging, it's necessary to manage the tension between Hope and Urgency. Stay tuned. More to come, Fellow Warriors!
