    Hello -

I am drafting updated policies to reflect best practices, state  (GA  BFTS) guidance on restrictions and servicing a child with behavioral challenges and developmental delays.

Does anyone have a resource to support the drafting of center based policies for

    1. promote scientifically based inclusion research
    2. identifying a-typical behaviors by the appropriate professionals
    3. define DAP behavioral expectations  - naps, transitions and other non-choice situations in group care
    4. clearly defines procedures

    Thank you

    Hi Raquel:

You might consider taking a look at a resource titled "Effective Discipline Policies:  How to Create a System that Supports Young Children's Social-Emotional Competence".  In contains a tool called the TAGPEC:  Teaching and Guidance Policy Essentials Checklist which takes a humanist approach to guiding children's behavior and developing policies on that topic.  There is also a section that addresses the impact of trauma on children's behavior.

    Hello,
Thank you for posing this question! I am very interested in the feedback that you will receive since this topic was proposed at our GAEYC weekly informal meeting. The state of Georgia is doing a great job in the world of ECE, but we still need help in other areas.
