    Hello,

I work with the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency in Georgia. At this time, we are not allowed to provide any onsite technical assistance with our quality improvement system. Our state licensing reps are also not in the field either. All visits have been conducted virtually at this point. Just curious as to what other states are doing? Are your licensing people in the field yet? Do we fear repercussions could occur from eyes and ears not being in the field especially those who are not NAEYC or Quality Rated (GA's term for QRIS). Thanks!

    Hi,

Ndara here from MD, we actually had our annual licensing visit via Google Meet.  I walked our licensing specialist through our entire center and outdoor area via my cell phone.  It went pretty well, the only issue we had was the connection but we made it through.  Otherwise, all other licensing issues we are working through via email.

I hope this is what you were looking for.

I had my licensing visit a few weeks ago. It was long but being prepared before the visit was very helpful. We tried different times but they didn't work well. You know when you have things to do it seems like the kids know and they don't cooperate. But, over all it was a great visit.

Good morning Caroline:  Here in Arlington, VA, we have had our licensing visits done via FaceTime and Microsoft Teams without issue.  I do have to take issue with your statement regarding "repercussions could occur from eyes and ears not being in the field especially those who are not NAEYC or QRIS rated."  Credible, conscious administrators who are passionately committed to providing quality early education do so whether or not "big brother" might come through the front door or not and whether or not they are accreddited.   As with any profession there are less than credible individuals in positions of authority that may take advantage of the change in licensing oversight during the pandemic, which may result in children receiving minimal care.
