  • 1.  Virginia Early Childhood State Standards

Hello, within the next year or so my family is looking to move to Virginia. I am trying to familiarize myself with the state standards as well as the department of health regulations before we get there. I have tried googling these things but want to make sure I have correct information, can anyone provide a link to these resources?

    Thank you for your help.

How exciting for your move. Virginia is a beautiful state and a great place to live.  I am not sure if the answers you are looking for are here on the state site but I thought I would share.  http://www.doe.virginia.gov/early-childhood/index.shtml

    Good luck in your move.

    Tiffany Ann,

Virginia's center-based early childhood programs are licensed by the Department of Social Services
    https://www.dss.virginia.gov/files/division/licensing/cdc/intro_page/code_regulations/code/2019_code_of_virginia.pdf

Virginia's Department of Education Foundation Blocks for Early Learning also weighs in:
     http://www.doe.virginia.gov/early-childhood/curriculum/foundation-blocks.pdf

Early childhood licensing is scheduled to move under the Department of Education. Some counties in Virginia have an additional layer of ece program licensing.
    Welcome!
