I am currently writing (suppose to be writing) a paper on Preschool access for all children. One of the things I am noticing is that we are seriously lacking research into family child care homes. I have heard from many providers that they are not considered educators from corporations who give out discounts to the people who are in charge of regulations in the states.

What can we do to change how family child care is viewed? What type of research could be done to help gather more research for those who do not understand what we do?

    Lets share ideas.

We have engaged out FCC in our QRIS Quality Improvement Grant. We visit once a month and work on curriculum development using the Preschool California Foundations and Frameworks and building CLASS principles into their daily routines.
The hardest first step is getting the in-home providers to switch their own view of the care they provide. Most do not see themselves as educators or teachers. We spend a great deal of time encouraging them to recognize themselves as teachers.
