Return to hands-on after vaccination?

    Hello!

My name is Linda. I am 57 and have taught, primarily Kindergarten, in private and public schools, as well as preschool children of all ages in both church and private settings. I am in a school in Central Ohio that has children from 6 weeks through Kindergarten. I have always been a hands-on teacher, with children sitting in my lap and snuggling up to my sides. I describe myself as a "huggy" teacher.

I have been home for the last year as I am high-risk for Covid complications. My doctor said I could return to work after I am fully vaccinated. I have received my shots and am scheduled to start back soon. Even though I am vaccinated, I know that the risk is not completely gone. Most of our students do not wear masks at school. How have other vaccinated high-risk early childhood educators handled the lessened, but still present, risk? Have you adjusted your teaching style to be less hands-on? If you have, how have you done so? Thank you for sharing your experiences!

    Fondly, Linda
