Compliance with ITERS_R, NAEYC, Head Start, and so much more

I am working with a group of infant/toddler teachers in a University Early Childhood Center. They have recently been through NAEYC accreditation and are now preparing for the ITERS-R. They are also licensed with DHS and have Head Start students so must comply with those guidelines. In our discussions, it seems that they are confused and often frustrated with all of this compliance.

When we were discussing interest centers and play areas i made several suggestions about materials to include. In each case there were conflicting guidelines including the size and number of blocks, the number of items to include, and the space required. Their classrooms are small and so including all of these things can be challenging. They are thoughtful and professional teachers with many years of experience.

Has anyone faced this kind of challenge? Is the problem the guidelines or how they are interpreted?
