Statement to Condemn Asian Hate from NAEYC Asian Interest Forum in Solidarity with People of Color Caucus

  • 1.  Statement to Condemn Asian Hate from NAEYC Asian Interest Forum in Solidarity with People of Color Caucus

    Posted 03-19-2021 02:29 AM
    Dear All,

It is with a heavy heart that the Asian Interest Forum (AIF) condemns the tragic murders in Atlanta, Georgia, which resulted in eight deaths, including six Asian women. We stand with the families of the victims and offer our sincere condolences. We share their pain, as we grapple with the truth that such an attack could have happened to any one of us Asian-Americans. In light of these heartbreaking events, we are appalled, angry, and deeply saddened.

The AIF created a statement to condemn Asian hate in solidarity with the People of Color Caucus. We also include a resource page on how to help fight anti-Asian violence in the statement.  We are asking our ECE friends to help us fight against Asian hate. If you are willing to join us, please let us know 1) your name, and 2) the city you live; we will add your name to the signature page. Please feel free to disseminate the statement as well. Thank you!

You can find the statement at https://d69e6a86-d9da-4637-83c6-c771018c5eb6.filesusr.com/ugd/d4e6d3_2e97b6e47666412a84cd088307949ef2.pdf

Good morning and THANK YOU! So appreciate you taking the time to lend your support. I am deeply sorry about the shooting in CO. My condolences go to the families of the victims. I can't imagine the pain the families have to go through.

While we are waiting to learn more about the shooting, I wonder how many lives we need to lose to prevent history from repeating itself. Every life is precious, and we can't afford to lose more!

    Dear Jennifer,
Thanks so much for taking the time to send the supportive message! We appreciate you!! Let's work together to remind people the America we know is "kind" instead of full of hatred. Let's work on educating the general public on racial inequalities. Through an awareness of intersectionality, we can better acknowledge and ground the differences among us.

    Dear all,

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Since we've published the statement to condemn Asian hate in solidarity with the People of Color Caucus last week, many of you have been sending a steady stream of care with your pouring encouraging messages and support. Some of you shared how great it is to see how much we care for each other in the ECE community. We appreciate your courage to stand with us and to fight the wrong. This is not an easy path, but it's not as hard to walk this path knowing we are not alone. The form to include your name to support is https://forms.gle/Nj5JzwmLoCdzta5p6, or you can simply reply to this message and we will include your name and city to the signature page which will be updated on Wednesday. Please know that we are going nowhere but forward with you. Thank you again!

Joining everyone to raise our voices and condemn the recent senseless killings in our nation. It was Atlanta and now Colorado. As an early childhood educator, my heart goes to the children or grandchildren victims will leave behind, and their emotional turmoil they have to deal with for a long time.  It is and never will it be okay for anyone to feel they have the right to end someone's life because of the color of their skin or where they come from. Absolutely, unacceptable period!  I wish everyone could see, and aesthetically appreciate the beauty and the sweet aroma that comes from our differences. Our tasks is to continue through education to teach mankind the respect and acceptance of each other in a world that has become one global village.
