  • 1.  Insurance Regulations Affecting Family/Group

    Posted 11-21-2019 01:55 PM
Hello, I am the owner of Munchkin Land a Group Childcare. I am nafcc accreditied and a STAR 5 in our quality improvement program. I serve on our naeyc affiliate board as their Secretary and I was just elected to be the President in our local affiliate chapter. I am also the Regional Rep for the nafcc for our state.  Montana Family/Group providers are running into a problem with insurance if they rent their homes and are being told to close their child cares. The current standard property insurance for residential rentals and renters' insurance precludes operation of any home-based business. This precludes child care home providers from operating in residential rentals as they and the property owners are not adequately insured.
I would like to know if other states are finding the same problem, and if so how is it being handled? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated and passed along to individuals working on this issue. Thank you.

    Hello,

You need to locate a daycare insurance company.
We used Assure Child Carer for liability insurance for our in-home daycare.

Assure Child Care Group Accident & Liability Insurance Policy is available to Licensed Family Child Care Providers in 44 states and the District of Columbia.

There are other companies to choose from.
    Thank you
    Melanie
