  • 1.  How many centers are allowing parents to enter the building to drop off/pick up children?

    Posted 02-26-2021 02:03 PM
We are running our children to their classrooms to minimize the amount of people are in the building. We are looking allowing them to enter the building again. NOT classrooms. Only to drop off and pick up their children.
If you are a center allowing this, are you taking the temperature of the parents before they enter?

    Thanks!

I am the assistant director for a corporate center and they only recently proposed this. For the last year, we have been holding our parents in between our double doors, not allowing them access to the lobby or classrooms. It is SO exhausting.
But, yesterday, our corporate HQ proposed we let our parents into the lobby. But making sure we check and log their Temps. This is not going to make things easier on us whatsoever. -.- it actually will make things harder. So, I hope this does not pass.

    Hi Sara,
It can definitely be exhausting to keep record of all parents entering the building but be sure you do not write down their exact temperature. As per HIPPA laws, it counts as confidential information. A simple table chart with three columns: Name, Fever (Y/N), Time In/Time Out would probably suffice for your log.

I am an Assistant Director of a private non- public school in Queens, New York  that service young children from the age of 6 weeks to 5th grade.
We have been committed from the conception of this pandemic to ensure  that the health  and safety of our staff , parents and especially our children are upheld at all times.
Thus the reason why we invested in a Digital Infrared Thermometer Facial Recognition device to read the temperature of every person who enters in to our building.
This device with also notify the individuals of these three following health responses ; please where a mask , temperature is normal or temperature is elevated. The device also visually display the temperature reading across the screen. You do not need to record anything once you install the program to your desktop computer. The device capture the person's temperature reading, the time it was read. In addition the person's face is taken as a picture. You can  search, review, and  generate a report for all of your temperature readings. This digital device has been a definite asset to our school. We have been able to ensure everyone that we are upholding exceptional health precautionary steps to ensure the safety of everyone. It is quick and generally efficient.
Once the parents has his or her temperature read and cleared the parent is  only permitted to come as far as our reception desk where they check in or out their child through the Procare Childcare system. A staff member takes each and every child to his or her respected classroom to wash their hands. We also have hand sanitizers available.at both areas. One final thing, to ensure the efficiency and quick expediting of the parents  arriving or leaving the building quickly,  we post a staff member at the entrance door during peak time such as 8:00 am for arrival for our Pre-K and School Age students and 2:45pm for dismissal.
I  highly recommend the Digital Infrared Thermometer Facial Recognition device it will help keep everyone safe and have a piece of mind.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me.
We all have the same goal to continue to provide exceptional  childcare to our young children while keeping everyone both safe and healthy.

We have been allowing parents to bring their children into the foyer but not to the classroom. This is so parents who qualify for ccdf can swipe their cards. We do take temperature and require a mask. Most parents do not come in unless it's very cold outside.

We have fourteen sites, and at all of them for drop off and pick up, we walk the students to their cars or the parents come to the front door; parents have not been allowed in the building. Going out to the car has been helpful and drop-off because our staff can do temperature checks on the kiddos while they're still in the car, and if someone has a fever, they have not even been inside the building yet, and parents still have supervision and can take them home.

Hey! We are still bringing our children in and out at our center. Nobody is allowed inside. I would love it for the parents to be able to do it! Less confusion of things. I would think you could log it in rather they had a fever or not. As long as you are taking it as your employees do.

Hello. We are still allowing parents in our center to drop off and pick up. We are also encouraged for our families to come to the center weekly to participate in Family Involvement activities.
