I am looking for some good Observation Videos .I teach high school students about Early Childhood Education.   One of the things I need to teach them is about Observations and how observations can help teachers learn about children - their behavior, things they are interested in, assessing their skills and learning, etc.   We are not able this year to go to nearby preschools to do observations.   I am looking for some good online resources such as videos that I can show my students  to give them get a good sense of a preschool classroom and help them understand the importance of observations.

Search Larry Edelman Results Matter from the Colorado Department of Education.  He has wonderful short clips that are great.

In my Observation and Assessment class, I use Focused Observations by Gail Grunland as the textbook. The publisher is Redleaf Press, and the book comes with a DVD that has good vignettes for students to watch. You can also print reflection sheets for them to use to reflect on each of the vignettes.  If you don't want to purchase the book with the DVD, you can find the vignettes on YouTube. Just search for Focused Observations in YouTube.  I hope this helps.

    Hi Cheryl,

There is a streaming service called Videatives (videatives.com) that provides several clips of children in care (from infants till about 7 years old).  I've used these clips several times as a coach when I provide training on observations as it provides a great forum to practice observations (and other practices).
    I hope this helps!

Please check this document: some links to a book regarding how to apply video to observe and understand children's behaviors in kindergartens across three countries, and some video clips regarding children's behaviors and the interpretation.  Hope it helps!
