Looking for suggestions of high quality college text books that balance Infant-toddler development and relationship-based programming. Right now, we are using two different texts to get what we need. Also interested to know if anyone is using OER (Non-textbook, Online Educational Resources) for college courses in this area.

I have been teaching infant/toddler education for over 10 years and have found that the textbook- Infants, Toddlers, and Caregivers by Janet Gonzalez-Mena equally balances infant-toddler development as well as relationship-based programming. The book follows the Pikler philosophy. As far as online resources, I use Zero to Three quite a bit and of course my friend Google!

    Hi Tammra,

Check out Let's Talk Toddlers: A Practical Guide to High Quality Teaching. It addresses all aspects of preparing the environment for play, guided play, positive routines and expectations, social skills, behavior guidance, language and early literacy experiences, and fostering partnerships with families. it's aligned with ITERS-3 and CLASS. It's being used as a PD resource, and also for community college and higher-Ed teacher preparation. Here's the link: https://www.redleafpress.org/Lets-Talk-Toddlers-A-Practical-Guide-to-High-Quality-Teaching-P1914.aspx

I know you'll love it and find it full of encouraging and practical strategies. It shows what eager and happy learners toddlers are and what teachers can do to be successful.

    Best!
    Marie
