    Good Morning,
How would you handle a situation in which you you have a teacher that discloses that she hosted a birthday party, in which there was a couple that participated in this party, that had a child in the IC unit with Covid19 and they had been in physical contact with that child?

I would call your health department and follow their advice.

I am not sure what the Florida "rules" are, but in MA no gatherings of more than 10 to start..Outside and socially distancing..if parents have a child with a confirmed case of Covid the parents should be on a 2 week quarantine-at home, no contacts. If the parents attending that party have Covid they could have potentially given it to your teacher and all the other guests....if quarantine time of 2 weeks is up and the child WAS in ICU but is now healthy and they were all at the party...possibility of spread is lower, but have the parents been tested?  I think you have a lot more questions that need clarification before being able to make a decision on whether or not that teacher can return to work. Get more details and call your local health department. But if it were my school that teacher would not be at work until all questions are fully answered.

    Hi,

I would follow the CDC guidelines that state that if you come in contact with someone you know has COVID or has a possible exposure you must self isolate for 14 days.  It's too big a risk (legal and personal) to have that teacher in school until their child no longer has an active case of COVID, in my opinion.    Good luck with your decision.

In our program, this staff member would be required to stay home for 14 days.

I would not let them return until they have quarantined for 14 days & been tested.
