  • 1.  question about physical fitness of teachers

    Posted 03-13-2019 03:26 PM

I'm wondering if anyone has addressed the question of physical fitness of teachers.  Does anyone has any kind of assessment in place to determine whether or not a teacher can perform the physical tasks necessary for the job?

    Thank you

I know that in the state of Colorado you need to have a physical. Depending on how your doctor signs the note it can be good for one or two years.

I strongly believe that teachers should somewhat be physically fit to handle some type of physical exercise with young children. Especially since obesity is entering into our young children life, we need teachers to have some type of physical fitness under their belt. Therefore, children can start to do or like some form of exercise.

We're role models for the children. Teachers should model a healthy lifestyle.

I agree, teachers need to be Physically fit, to play outdoors with children and be role models for children to love outdoor play and move around. Instead of being indoors and doing activities sitting on desks. We can encourage our young generation to be more active and learn from nature and love and respect nature.

    Hi Teri,
In Michigan, licensing agency do require the Physical test of the Providers and assistant providers, but in my opinion and to my understanding physical and physical fitness is different. first is if someone is not having any contagious disease or is able to lift children or not using any drugs. Physical fitness is how much a person is fit and active besides being  physically healthy. A teacher needs to be active and fit to be a healthy role model for children. In my opinion daily exercise  with children is a must to keep them fit.
