We are currently preparing for our  second re-accreditation. Our faculty and administration are looking to get new and fresh ideas for observable standards surrounding representations of different cultures, family structures, ages, and abilities in the classrooms. We are looking to get away from the standard posters that are typically marketed to early childhood establishments with representation of different cultures, families, ages etc. We are also looking to get away from purchasing dress-up clothes marketed to early childhood from school supply establishments as "different culture" clothing, as they seem very stereotypical in nature to us. Looking for your thoughts on taking a closer look at observable standards 2J.2, 2L.1, 1D.1, 1D.2 in the classroom. We have many rich themes, literature, arts etc. embedded throughout the year in our lesson plans, activities, and school culture, but I'm wondering how NAEYC expects these standards to be specifically observable on the day of the visit, without the artificial feel of posters and other purchased marketed items.

    Thanks!
