    Dear Colleagues,

    According to Hope Jackson, "colorism is the more subtle, but just as systematic and dangerous cousin of racism."

    Thank you for this article.  In working with teachers we always ask ourselves, "How does race play a part in what I'm seeing and hearing?"
    This article stretches that question.  Thank you also for this website dedicated to supporting young children and families.  It's new to me and I'll share it.

    I wrote an article on this topic for Exchange Magazine. They have not scheduled it yet, but it's interesting that others are beginning to address this critically important issue. My article centers on my late wife's struggle in school, being a very dark-skinned African American student. It also describes some of the history of colorism in the US.
